Huna Prayer for Gulf waters

A friend emailed me the following message.

Yesterday at our spiritual center we read a letter from Dr. Masaru Emoto who many of you will recognize as the scientist from Japan who has done all the research and publications about the characteristics of water. Among other things, his research reveals that water physically responds to emotions.

Right now, most of us have the predominantly angry emotion when we consider what is happening in the Gulf. And while certainly we are justified in that emotion, we may be of greater assistance to our planet and its life forms, if we sincerely, powerfully and humbly pray the prayer that Dr Emoto, himself, has proposed.

Focusing our energies in response to the Gulf tragedy and for healing the waters and its inhabitants, here is Dr Emoto's Healing Prayer for the Gulf:

"We send the energy of love and gratitude to the water and all the living creatures in the Gulf of Mexico and its surroundings.
To the whales, dolphins, pelicans, fish, shellfish, plankton, coral, algae, and all living creatures...
We are sorry.
Please forgive us.
Thank you. We Love you.
I love you."

We are passing this request to people who we believe might be willing to participate in this prayer, to set an intention of love and healing that is so large, so overwhelming that we can perform a miracle in the Gulf of Mexico.

We are not powerless. We are powerful. Our united energy, speaking this prayer daily — times daily — can literally shift the balance of destruction that is happening.

We don't have to know how — we just have to recognize that the power of love is greater than any power active in the Universe today.

Please join us in repeating this healing prayer of Dr. Emoto's. And feel free to copy and paste this to send it around the planet. Let's take charge, and do our own clean up!

Don't try to become free. Don't look for peace. Don't look for any other state than the one you are in now; otherwise, you will set up inner conflict and unconscious resistance. Instead, try these three exercises the next time you feel the arising pain-body:

The moment you completely accept your nonpeace, your nonpeace becomes transmuted into peace. Anything you accept fully will get you there, will take you into peace. This is the miracle of surrender.
When you accept what is, every moment is the best moment. That is enlightenment.
You don't need to deceive yourself and say that there is nothing wrong with a particular unpleasant or undesirable life situation. It may be time for you to get out of it. If so, you can recognize fully that you want to get out of it. Then, narrow your attention down to the present moment without mentally labeling it in any way. No judgment, no resistance, no emotional negativity. Just the "isness" of this moment. Then you take action and do all that you can to get

Malcolm Smith has worked with hundreds of people with tremendous success, especially with vision problems, cancer and epilepsy. According to Malcolm, the primary purpose of spiritual healing is to stir the soul. Unless the soul is touched and the spirit awakens, any physical healing will only be temporary -- thus his goal is to awaken your spirit so that you may soar in your life.

Malcolm feels that healing energy is directed by angels and spirit doctors. With great humility, he claims to be just an innocent bystander in the healing process. For most people, there is a slow improvement over a period of time, and for some people -- big miracles.

Malcolm works with all issues of body, mind and spirit. An awareness must arise within the one receiving the energy to develop a new code of moral and spiritual values to replace those which have them 'bogged down' in material cares and woes. Look for areas in your life which are central to your sense of self: For instance, a job, a political affiliation, or simply a self definition, e.g.: "I am a caring person."

Contemplate where this structure came from. Was there one particular experience that caused you to take this position, or to go down this path? What if you had never met that person, or chosen a different major in college...?

If you are married, could you be happy being single again? If you have a career you enjoy, what if that line of work disappeared from our economy?

Quiet your mind, and feel for the 'you' underneath these definitions.

If practical, the next time the self-definition comes in to play, stop for a second, and see if you can 'be', and feel the distinction, outside of that old 'structure.

Free Yourself from Your Mind

The best way of assimilating the teachings of A New Earth is through reading, contemplating and slowly digesting the concepts in the book. You can also take any routine activity that normally is only a means to an end and give it your fullest attention.

Choose one or two activities you do routinely and bring your attention to them. Here are three examples.

Every time you walk up and down the stairs in your house or place of work, pay close attention to every step, every movement…even your breathing. Be totally present.
When you wash your hands, pay attention to all the sensory perceptions associated with the activity: the sound and feel of the water, the movement of your hands, the scent of the soap and so on.
When you get into your car, after you close the door, pause for a few seconds and observe the flow of your breath. Become aware of a silent but powerful sense of presence.

Awakening Exercise for Chapter 2:
Listen for the Voice in Your Head

Adapted from Practicing the Power of Now: Essential Teachings, Meditations, and Exercises from The Power of Now (p. 18–20)

A few times a day, listen quietly for the voice in your head, the stream of continuous self-talk. Then ponder the following questions. Just be with the questions. Don't necessarily try to answer them.

Am I the thoughts that are going through my head?
Or, am I the one who is aware that these thoughts are going through my head?

Pay attention to the gap between your thoughts—when one thought subsides and before another arises. In this way, you draw consciousness away from mind activity and create a gap of no-mind in which you are highly alert and aware but not thinking. When these gaps occur, you disidentify from your mind and feel a certain stillness and peace inside you. This is the essence of meditation and the single most vital step on your journey toward enlightenment.

In the background, there is the awareness. In the foreground, there is the voice, the thinker. In this way you are becoming free of the ego, free of the unobserved mind. The moment you become aware of the ego in you, it is strictly speaking no longer the ego, but just an old, conditioned mind-pattern. Ego implies unawareness. Awareness and ego cannot coexist. The old mind-pattern or mental habit may still survive and reoccur for a while because it has the momentum of thousands of years of collective human unconsciousness behind it, but every time it is recognized, it is weakened.

The "Inner Teacher"

Our buddha nature has an active aspect, which is our “inner teacher.” From the very moment we became obscured, this “inner teacher” has worked tirelessly for us, tirelessly trying to bring us back to the radiance and spaciousness of our true being.

In its infinite compassion, one with the infinite compassion of all the buddhas and all the enlightened beings, it has been ceaselessly working for our evolution—not only in this life but in all our past lives—using all kinds of skillful means and all types of situations to teach and awaken us and to guide us back to the truth.

You will receive a body. You may like it or hate it, but it's yours to keep for the entire period.

You will learn lessons. You are enrolled in a full-time informal school called, "life."

There are no mistakes, only lessons. Growth is a process of trial, error, and experimentation. The "failed" experiments are as much a part of the process as the experiments that ultimately "work."

Lessons are repeated until they are learned. A lesson will be presented to you in various forms until you have learned it. When you have learned it, you can go on to the next lesson.

Learning lessons does not end. There's no part of life that doesn't contain its lessons. If you're alive, that means there are still lessons to be learned.

"There" is no better a place than "here." When your "there" has become a "here", you will simply obtain another "there" that will again look better than "here."

Other people are merely mirrors of you. You cannot love or hate something about another person unless it reflects to you something you love or hate about yourself.

What you make of your life is up to you. You have all the tools and resources you need. What you do with them is up to you. The choice is yours.

Your answers lie within you. The answers to life's questions lie within you. All you need to do is look, listen, and trust.

You will forget all this.

When you do, stop. Just step back gently in your mind, and have a look, without judgement:

What is going on? What is the mechanism? Are you arguing with someone in particular? Are you being judged by someone in particular? Are you trying to fit yourself into some particular shape?

Is the intended result that 'you feel good'? - or that you avoid 'feeling bad'?
What, exactly, is the feeling that you are trying to achieve or avoid?

Just look and see. Write it down, Patty. Like taking apart a pocket watch... How does it work?

We had a great time this past Saturday! About 120 people attended the talk by Dr. Charles Thomas Cayce entitled “Is Reincarnation Unnecessary?”

The short answer, for each and every one of us, was a resounding “Yes.&rdquo Each of us has the opportunity to complete the work we came to do by the choices we make. Dr. Cayce provided seven key elements shared by the 18 people his grandfather Edgar Cayce told that this could be their last lifetime on the Earth, if they so chose. As with all the information Cayce provided, the keys are straightforward enough — forgiveness, kindness, gentleness, joyfulness, meditation and the like. But the will to do so is up to the individual.

A method is only a means

Remember: A method is only a means, not the meditation itself. It is through practicing the method skillfully that you reach the perfection of that pure state of total presence, which is the real meditation.

There is a revealing Tibetan saying: “Gompa ma yin, kompa yin,” which means literally: “ Meditation is not; getting used to is.”

It means that meditation is nothing other than getting used to the practice of meditation. As it is said: “Meditation is not striving, but naturally becoming assimilated into it.” As you continue to practice the method, then meditation slowly arises. Meditation is not something that you can “do”; it is something that has to happen spontaneously, only when you have perfected the practice.

When we have really grasped the law of karma in all its stark power and complex reverberations over many, many lifetimes, and seen just how our self-grasping and self-cherishing, life after life, have woven us repeatedly into a net of ignorance that seems only to be ensnaring us more and more tightly; when we have really understood the dangerous and doomed nature of the self-grasping mind’s enterprise; when we have really pursued its operations into their most subtle hiding places; when we have really understood just how our whole ordinary mind and actions are defined, narrowed and darkened by it, how almost impossible it makes it for us to uncover the heart of unconditional love, and how it has blocked in us all sources of real love and real compassion, then there comes a moment when we understand, with extreme and poignant clarity, what Shantideva said:

If all the harms
Fears and sufferings in the world
Arise from self-grasping,
What need have I for such a great evil spirit?

And then a resolution is born in us to destroy that evil spirit, our greatest enemy. With that evil spirit dead, the cause of all our suffering will be removed, and our true nature, in all its spaciousness and dynamic generosity, will shine out.

Carl Jung was a giant in the dawn of the age of psychoanalysis. A student of Freud who broke with Freud. Champion of the individual spiritual quest as doorway to the universal.

In midlife, he looked for his own soul and found nothing. Dug deeper, for years, late at night, recording wild visions: gods and demons, winged snakes and crocodiles. Found his soul’s footing, but feared he’d be called insane.

Jung said his “red book,” in which he recorded his visions, was the base of everything else he did. But it was locked away for years in a Swiss vault.

Enlightenment is real

Enlightenment is real; and each of us, whoever we are, can in the right circumstances and with the right training realize the nature of mind and so know in us what is deathless and eternally pure. This is the promise of all the great mystical traditions of the world, and it has been fulfilled and is being fulfilled in countless thousands of human lives.

The wonder of this promise is that it is something not exotic, not fantastic, not for an elite, but for all of humanity; and when we realize it, the masters tell us, it is unexpectedly ordinary.

Spiritual truth is not something elaborate and esoteric, it is in fact profound common sense. When you realize the nature of mind, layers of confusion peel away. You don’t actually “become” a buddha, you simply cease, slowly, to be deluded. And being a buddha is not being some omnipotent spiritual superman, but becoming at last a true human being.

Tiny Being Saved by Giant God-Creature

I saw a beautiful spider web, glowing in the sun. Thought it would make a nice photo, so I grabbed the camera and wandered over.
What do I see but a small dragonfly, hanging by a single thread.
So, I plucked him off and chatted him up. After pulling off the big pieces, the remaining problem was one remaining sticky thread, wrapped around his wing, like you'd put a tie around a scroll.
Seemed a simple solution: just pull off or cut off that thread. - But the the entire diameter of the rolled wing was only maybe 2 or 3 millimeters. My finger wasn't going to do it - not going to fit into that 2-millimeter slot.
After a while, he suggested that I might use the blade of my little key-chain knife, which has a nice angular point. I agreed.
He was a bit concerned at first, and pulled away. Finally, with a little bravery on his part, and some careful juggling on mine, we managed to slice the cable.
His wing spread out full after a bit, then he just rested.

I felt tongue-tied.

It seemed there should be more to say.

It took him longer than I thought it should, but finally, I just lifted my hand, and he flew off.

I wondered about what I'd done.
How many smaller creatures would be eaten by this one, as a result of my act?

Edgar Cayce rarely suggested that a certain thing was unequivocally helpful for every single person, yet over and over again he recommended reading portions of the Gospel of John, chapters 14 through 17. Cayce went so far as to say that, in absorbing it, “ye will become positive, ye will become a light for others (Reading 2970-1).”

The instructions were to “read these not with the attitude that you believe this, or do not believe that. As you read, apply the messages not just to anyone but to self — as though He, the Lord, were speaking alone with thee (Reading 2067-6)!”

There are two main methods Cayce recommended, if I understand correctly. One is to read the whole of chapters 14 through 17, each day, for 28 days straight. More if you like. If you skip a day, begin again, reading daily for 28 days. The second way is to read “only five to ten versus each day. Then apply that given in those verses for a day. Then read five to ten more — apply that. You will find a regeneration (Reading 2067-6).”

Chapters 14 through 17 from the King James Bible version of John are below. However, choose the biblical translation you find most comforting. When asked which translation was best, Cayce had this to say: “The nearest true version for the entity is that ye apply of whatever version ye read, in your life. It isn't that ye learn from anyone. Ye only may have the direction. The learning, the teaching, is within self. For where hath He promised to meet thee? Within the temple! Where is that temple? Within! (Reading 2072-14)”

Remember, the key is to imagine that Jesus is speaking John 14–17 directly to you.

If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.
